Hello,
My name is Alisha and I am currently in my last quarter of grad school. I will be receiving my MA in Curriculum and Instruction in Education in December. I am 26 years old and just moved out of my parents house 2 weeks ago in a new house with my boyfriend. Right now, I am a substitute teacher who is actively looking for a full time teaching position. Teaching is my dream job and I wanted to teach since I was 5 years old. I thought I wanted to teach elementary school and received my multiple subject teaching credential in 2011. After subbing and teaching I realized I want to teach high school. After I graduate in December I am planing on adding additional teaching credentials to teach high school students.
I hate to say it but to be completely honest I signed up for this class only because I needed full time status for financial aide. I only need 4 units to graduate but needed 4 more to be full time. Even though I said that, I can already see how this class is going to be beneficial. Over the summer I was a summer school teacher for an independent study charter school called Options for Youth. I loved working there and would love to be hired on full time (I have a 2nd interview Tuesday for a full time position). They use online programs for their core subjects and I think learning more about eLearning will help me become a better teacher. In addition, technology is getting better every day and I think using this technology is beneficial and necessary in todays classroom but it has to be done correctly. I hope to learn to learn how I can make eLearning beneficial and supportive for all types of students.
I have had a little bit of experience for eLearning. Not only have I taken at least 10 online courses throughout my college career but I have taken two classes on technology in the classroom. I have learned how to interact technology into my lesson and helping students become familiar with different software while learning content in the classroom. Through this class I hope to expand upon my prior knowledge and learn more about eLearning.
I am familiar with a lot of different technology but I am not an expert on any particular thing. I have used blogs, podcasts, video conferencing before. In addition, I am familiar with Mac products and a little bit of PC. I am familiar with software such as Word, Power Point , Excel, and many other teaching software. When it comes to the type of interactions that I prefer is Learner-Instructor interactions and Learner-Learner interactions.
I am very excited to take this class and know that I will be learning a lot.
